The End

Here it is. The final for my Character Viz class. Let's just say that this was the roughest final that I've ever had to gone through. And in all honesty, it's not finished. Time constraints caused me to cut corners in some parts of the final which I am very upset about. However, it's done. I'm happy with the color and the drawings. And that's what counts I guess. Well I gotta keep at this stuff though. Since this is what I want to do when I grow up, I gotta just keep at it. That's all I can say about this. Thanks to Masta P again for teaching me everything that I learned.

That's All Folks

Here are some of the pictures that I used for my final concept:

Here it is. The culmination of all of my back breaking and hammer taking blood, sweat, and tears. The final concept came out better than I expected. I personally think that I simply got better. My original one was crap. Plain old crap. I'm actually surprised when I look at it and then look at this final composition. Though it can use some work, what couldn't nowadays, I'm extremely happy with the outcome.
I have to say though, this is all thanks to Masta P. He's helped me out more than any other teacher I've ever had. He's one cool dude.

Some of that RoboDys

This is just some more progress on the roboDys character of my story. By far the toughest character, which is actually a surprise, he's finally starting to come along. I have to switch up the brief that I wrote for him but that's no big deal at all. I'm still working up some sketches for him and hope to have him all finished today.

The Man Progress

Just more progress on the final. The Man is basically done. At least I think. Masta P will have something else to say though I'm sure. The branches were definitely something that needed to be added and they help his overall silhouette and design. I likes it.

[Edit] : I added some quick hair styles to get that stuff down. Some could be for Aaron too if need be. Simplicity at its finest

Further Up The Way

Just some more outfits for the "normal" main character. It's a lot harder than it looks to make someone look normal, you know? A lot hard than I thought it would be at least. I think I'm finally getting it down though. He's starting to look better and more interesting by the hour and that's good. Now it's time to move onto the other characters. The Man will be easy because he's already had a lot of visual development done, but roboDys will be tough. Oh well. Back to the grindstone.

After learning about some fashion stuff it gave me some ideas. These are just quick ideas and nothing is final of course. Also, the idea to copy and paste and then doodle on top really quickens things up and works really well. I'm glad I pay attention in class and take notes even though Masta P says I don't.

Well it's time to keep working. This is tough work and I'm inching by slowly, but that's what progress is all about right?

Now That's What I Call Progress!

What a disaster this has been.... These both have taken me about three and a half hours to do, which is about an hour and ten minutes per character. That's a lot of time! It also didn't help that I had these done and then the files get deleted. Two hours of looking up how to get files back from oblivion did not help. So, last night at 10:00pm, two hours after they were deleted, I started to work again. Tired and hungry, I submit these pieces. Redone, but, I feel, done better then the ones that were deleted. That's good at least right? Some silver lining to this story of shit.

There's no excuses for deleted work though and the final gets tougher and tougher. But I press on.

Check That Comp IRL

Check out that progress man. Blocked in mountains and textures. Epic is calling me, I'll be right back.

Now in Technicolor

This is my character "The Man" now in full blown color. This is actually the first time I had ever digitally colored any of my characters and I know that my teacher would just make fun of me for saying this, but I think it's pretty awesome. I enjoyed doing this and it wasn't that hard. But that's probably because it is only a basic color and then a light and shadow layer. Still though, I think he came out very well. This took me an two hours to complete.

EYES WITH SOUL!

Now these eyes have some soul in them. Who knew that it was the white of the eyes and that little bit of highlight that contains the one thing that everyone needs to continue living? ... I'm talking about the soul...

Midterm Redo Baby

These are the re-worked midterms. I think they look more consistent then the last ones and that's an improvement. I guess?

silhouette MAN

These are silhouettes of one character from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The hardest part of this sketch was the shading. Shading something that doesn't really have depth or definition besides it's edges is tough. For me at least. This one took me the longest with an hour and seventeen minutes.

Back to Basics

You'd think that a college kid would be able to understand primitive shading by now... Nope. At least that's not what Masta P thinks. So we find ourselves in this situation with creation 20 primitives and then shading them all. I tried to show light from different directions. I think I managed it but only time and Masta P will tell. Oh yeah this took me thirty two minutes to complete. That is because I had to look up how light would displace along a cylinder that is lit from the top. Did you know that there is no reference for that kind of stuff? Luckily I had this cylinder shaped object in my room and a light above my head.

Just Eyes

Here they are. Twenty sets of eyes... This took about fifty six minutes to do. That is mainly because thinking up different eye shapes and how to make them look like they have life is kind of hard to do. However, after about the first set of five eyes every thing got a little bit easier. I actually liked doing this.

Touched Up and Refined

EA called me to do some art briefs for them. .... No they didn't. But still I can hope.

Midterm Midterm Midterm

Midterm PT. 3: The Man

This is the story's main antagonist. He doesn't have a name and they only way he's referred to by Aaron is "the man in the suit of leaves". He loves toying with the people of Back-Flip City and sees them as his underlings. He is eerily calm all of the time and never has a moment of panic.
