Better Base Mesh Please

This is my progress that I have made on the base mesh for my Character Modeling class. I think it looks pretty good overall, but I know that there is still MUCH room for improvement, innovation, and implementation. There are kids in my class who are leagues above me and just show what can be done right now. I need to get down and practice everything and follow the words of my teachers, past or present.

Well, this is it for now but there is still much more to be done. I need to add a dress, mask, hair, etc.

Off I go!

Bug Blasters Splash Screen

Here is the splash screen for the game that a few friends and I have made. My assignment on the project was making the enemy ships, GUI skin, and this splash screen.
Our game was also accepted into our school's Art of Play art show.

Hopefully I will have screen caps as well!

Mars Carnival Concept

These are some of the concept images that I drew for the level that my group (if you can call it that...) is making for my advanced 3D class. We're making an abandoned carnival on mars!

Aegis Logos

My one teacher asked me to try and apply to get included to do art on the small team's game. So I sent them my portfolio without expecting anything. To my surprise, one of the members of the team emailed me back and said that they wanted me to do some 2-D concept and art for them! So here is my first contribution to the team : the logo for the company the main character worked at, the Aegis Corporation.

This is actually my first time in a while creating a logo of any sort and it was fun to get into. I hope that the group likes them and picks one out for the game!

Base Mesh

Well this is my beginning base mesh for my Character Modeling class. There is still work to be done but I just wanted to show it's progress. I'm happy with how it's going and what I'm learning about modeling characters. I learned from my one friend who is in a different section of the same class that they are box modeling theirs (mine is made from a cylinder). His looked good but way less efficient and cluttered with unnecessary geometry. I like the way that my teacher has shown us how to model this base mesh so far and I look for to being able to show more and more progress with this creation!

Turbine Toad

This was an assignment for my Advanced 3D class. This was essentially the art test my teacher had taken for Turbine Games. You had twenty hours and a budget of 1000 quads to create a toad based off of loose concept and reference art given. The toad I created was a bit more brighter than the one from the images but I'm happy with the way that it had come out.
The maps are all 1024 X 1024 and the software used was Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, and mentalray. The base mesh is 998 quads. I had barely made the limit.

3D 3D 3D!

These are some images for some alien bug ships that I'm making for this game that some kids from school are making. They aren't artists and they needed someone to do the dirty art work! Now they aren't the best because I'm not a seasoned modeler yet but I'm getting there! Both are rigged too.

Bring It Back

I came up with the idea of bringing back this blog and just making it my all around art blog. Yeah, that's what I think I'll do. Great stuff! The old posts from my 2-D art class have been merged into this one and from here on out I will be posting stuff from other classes such as 3D works, concept, as well as things that I do for myself. I'm excited to get this going!
